Sunday Mornings on the Porch
If you have read the other posts here, you probably think that all I do is sit on my porch. And I do – every time I get a chance. This morning sure feels like the beginning of fall. It’s about 60 degrees, it’s damp and cloudy. But it sure is beautiful.
The dogwood trees have turned a firey shade of red. And dogwoods are one of my very favorite trees. A few of the other trees are starting to turn and loose their leaves. There are crickets and cicadas singing. A few birds are chirping. And the rest of the world is still sleeping.
I read recently that when Mother Teresa was asked for spiritual direction, she said, “Spend one hour each day in adoration of your Lord and never do anything you know is wrong. Follow this, and you will be fine.” Pretty simple advise from a woman who spent her life doing good. I think my adoration of God is at it’s peak when I’m surrounded by His beautiful creation. What an artist He is. And you can never run out of things to admire in his beautiful works.
Here’s a rose from a rose bush given to me by a sweet friend. Thank you Shannon.
